David Mackoff, President

Go Vote!

The cooler temperatures and vibrant falling leaves of November mark it as a time of transition. The first week of this November is also the final week of an election year like no other. As the world watches with bated breath anticipating the outcome, many of us are likewise feeling combinations of hope and dread. Still, we have the privilege of giving voice to our values by voting, so be sure to make your preferences known. If you need assistance getting to a polling place or turning in a mail-in ballot, let the ERCV office know. We’re here to help ensure everyone in our community can fully participate.

Post-Election Lunch Bunch

On the day after the election, November 6th, our Lunch Bunch will be gathering at Mi Rancho in Silver Spring. This will be a time for us to share feelings and support each other, whatever news comes our way. And, one week later, whether or not we have the prospect of a woman as President come January, our November 13th field trip to the National Museum of Women in the Arts will celebrate the creativity and resilience of women past and present. I hope you’ll be able to join us.

ERCV Virtual Open House

If you know a friend or neighbor who might enjoy joining our community, please invite them to our virtual Open House on November 21st. It’s an opportunity for newcomers to learn about ERCV, hear about our upcoming programs, and consider ways they might like to get involved.

Register for Holiday Party

Looking ahead to December, please mark ERCV’s annual Holiday Party on your calendars. It will be on Sunday the 8th, from 3 to 5 pm at the Washington Ethical Society and, as always, will be a joyful opportunity to share food and fellowship and reflect upon an eventful year with the ERCV community. Please register soon and let us know if you need a ride to the festivity or would like to lend a hand in its preparation.

Give thanks & give donations

November also reminds us to pause for gratitude, and personally I want to thank each of you for choosing to be part of ERCV. Your presence and kindnesses to each other make our Village a very special place. If you appreciate this community and the connections we’ve built together, please consider making an end-of-year, tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us continue providing programs, resources, and community to those who need it—now and in the future.

Get Vaccinated

Finally, as we gather with friends and family this holiday season, please consider getting vaccinated against the Coronavirus, RSV, and the flu. (See this month’s Health Updates.) Whatever happens post-election, stay healthy in body and spirit. Have a happy Thanksgiving. May we all have good reasons to give thanks.
